Network and Wi-Fi support

Dropouts, dead spots and slow connections, diagnosed properly rather than guessed at.

Last updated

"The internet is slow" is almost never one problem. It might be the line, the router, the placement, interference from a neighbour, an old device dragging the whole band down, or a cable someone trod on two years ago.

The point of a proper look is finding out which, instead of buying another box and hoping.

What is included

Wi-Fi coverage
Dead spots, weak signal upstairs or at the back of the building, devices dropping off.
Speed problems
Working out whether it is the line, the equipment, the setup or one device.
Routers and switches
Setup, replacement, configuration and sensible placement.
Cabling
Where a wire would solve a problem that no amount of Wi-Fi will.
Guest and staff separation
Keeping visitor devices off the network your business runs on.
Security basics
Default passwords, firmware age and who can reach what.

How does it work?

  1. We measure what is actually happening rather than relying on how it feels.
  2. We identify the bottleneck, which is often not where people expect.
  3. We fix or replace only what needs it, and tell you what can wait.
  4. We check it again afterwards, so the improvement is real and not imagined.

Do you need new equipment or better setup?

Very often the answer is better setup. A well-placed access point beats an expensive one hidden in a cupboard. On the other hand, there is a point where old equipment genuinely cannot keep up, particularly kit supplied free by an internet provider several years ago. We will tell you which situation you are in, and if buying nothing is the right answer, that is the answer you will get.

Common questions

Can you fix Wi-Fi that only drops sometimes?

Usually yes, and intermittent faults are the ones most worth investigating properly, because guessing rarely lands. Patterns in when it drops are the useful clue.

Do you install cabling?

We advise on it and handle straightforward runs. For larger structured cabling jobs we will point you to someone set up for that work.

Will a Wi-Fi extender fix my dead spot?

Sometimes, but extenders halve throughput and can create new problems. A mesh setup or a single well-placed access point is often better, and we will tell you which suits your building.
